چکیده

Purpose: This study compared the surgical outcomes and quality of life patients who underwent fasciocutaneous fascial anterolateral thigh (ALT) free flaps for reconstruction traumatic soft tissue defects in foot. Methods: A single-institution retrospective review medical data from 2008 to 2021 was conducted on 20 a ALT flap or foot. Information collected patients’ baseline information, preoperative characteristics, postoperative courses. Quality measured through Foot Ankle Disability Index (FADI) score. questionnaire survey administered evaluate aesthetic satisfaction subjective improvement dryness sensory function at site. Results: The mean dimensions were 13.96×4.58 cm 10.75×3.50 groups, respectively. overall failure complication rates higher group (total necrosis one case, partial loss two cases, vascular complications three cases). While functional (FADI Sports) showed better group, recovery results group. Conclusion: In comparison flaps, demonstrated lower wound complications, satisfaction, outcomes, but less site. Therefore, choice foot should depend plastic surgeon’s discretion thorough discussion with patient.

Free anterolateral thigh flaps for upper extremity soft tissue reconstruction

INTRODUCTION Limb-threatening wounds of the upper extremity pose a challenge to the micro vascular surgeon. The aim of this study is to analyze the outcome of free anterolateral thigh flaps for upper extremity soft tissue reconstruction. METHODS A retrospective review of patients undergoing this procedure from 2005 to 2012 was performed. Case note analysis was performed to determine demograph...

Short-term donor site morbidity: A comparison of the anterolateral thigh and radial forearm fasciocutaneous free flaps.

BACKGROUND Donor site morbidity is an important consideration in the overall decision-making algorithm for fasciocutaneous free flap reconstruction of the head and neck. METHODS A retrospective case series was conducted of donor site complications occurring within 30 days of surgery among 226 consecutive anterolateral thigh (ALT) or radial forearm free flap (RFFF) microvascular free tissue tr...

Extended Anterolateral Thigh Flaps for Reconstruction of Extensive Defects of the Foot and Ankle

The anterolateral thigh flap has been used for coverage of defects in the foot and ankle for years. Conventional extended anterolateral thigh flaps do not undergo thinning procedures, which limit their application. Here, a clinical series of 24 patients is reported in which extended anterolateral thigh flaps were used for posttraumatic foot and ankle reconstruction. Of the 24 flaps, 14 were sim...

Sandwich Fascial Anterolateral Thigh Flap in Head and Neck Reconstruction: Evolution or Revolution?

INTRODUCTION The anterolateral thigh perforator flap (ALT) represents the workhorse for most reconstructive efforts in the head and neck regions. The main advantages of this flap are its versatility, the length of the pedicle, and the low morbidity of the donor site. The major drawback is the bulkiness of this flap with the frequent need for secondary revisions. To overcome this, we have develo...

Lower Extremity Reconstruction Using Vastus Lateralis Myocutaneous Flap versus Anterolateral Thigh Fasciocutaneous Flap

BACKGROUND The anterolateral thigh (ALT) perforator flap has become a popular option for treating soft tissue defects of lower extremity reconstruction and can be combined with a segment of the vastus lateralis muscle. We present a comparison of the use of the ALT fasciocutaneous (ALT-FC) and myocutaneous flaps. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed patients in whom free-tissue transfer was per...
